Ner's Random Musings on a life of interesting insights

a world of interesting factoids about nothing and everything

independence @ 05:32 pm

It's amazing how a year makes a difference, how our experiences mold our views. Just thinking back to last year, I was in another country, one with no kknowledge of the Fourth of July but that it existed. Last Fourth, I was taking an exam, I can't remember which one it was but I remember it was a cool day, and very stressful. Very different from today which is a very lazy day, hot, steamy, yet festive. 'm listening to Special X on XM which has all kinds of America music on it ehich is kinda cool. It's not that I didn't feel patriotic last year, but I must say that I think I feel more patriotic now, I feel more like I'd like to live here in the U.S. rather than in Australia. I feel so independent now that I don't know hhat I will do, I have no set plan. Very different from last year where I was sure I'd meet a girl and spend the rest of my life in Australia. Right now I'm keeping my options open.

Enough musing, today is today, I must not dwell in the past. My mom's defrosting the 5 pounds of crab legs we got on Wednesday. We got it for like $8.55, originally, $17.99. Apparently people didn't want it when Wal Mart bought it at Easter. Oh well, their loss is our cheap feast. We're going to cook up some hallibut and cheese biscuits too, the ones like they have at Red Lobster. We also got some more fireworks today, and they should be good. The ones I got I wanted to be loud, that was my only restriction. Myy sister came home today from SOS, the Christian camp that she works at, and she brought one of her friends here as well. She's from Pennsylvania and hasn't ever dony fireworks the usual "fire in the hole" way we do it. It's always exhillarating for my dad to light a firecracker that has a quarter inch fuse. It's also equally amusing to watch him run really fast away from the impending explosion. At least today we didn't get 1000 black cats (those firecrackers that are strung together in a huge roll). I don't like them too much, they are quite loud indeed but very repetitive as you might expect.

I'm leaving tomorrow at 4:00 for Strawberry Arizona. High Country Transportation called me and they are still very excited that I'll be having my "Squishy puppy". I don't know about Squishy, but she is pretty cuddly. The owner of the company is going to meet me at Dennys where my grandma will meet me, just so she can meet my dog, and oh yeah me too.

Well, I suppose I think I've run out of things to say for today. I'll write when I get west of the majestic rockies. Luckily I won't have to be in Phoenix where by the time I get there at 8:00 a.m. it'll be over 90 degrees fahrenheit. More soon.

Hey Noel, YOu remember on that New Years Eve when we had the shindig at your house and there was snow on the ground and your dad set off that whole package of Black Cats in that metal trash can?! That was frickin' hilarious!

I still have it on mini disk somewhere. That was very very funny. When Ally was there, we got a pack of 1000 black cats and lit them. It hink my dad is obsessed with the things.
