Ner's Random Musings on a life of interesting insights

a world of interesting factoids about nothing and everything

(no subject) @ 12:22 pm

Its somewhat disgusting in watching these court shows. They highlight lower class America and its ills and misgivings. I feel fortunate that I am in such good standing, in a good family, and for sure, that I'm not arguing about small amounts in front of a national audience.

Also, the commercials that they play during these court shows highlight society as well. The sope opera shows have commercials about baby care, the court shows have all the life insurrance, insurrance lawyers, etc., polluting ad airspace.

Fiona is laying on my bed, on my sheets no less, probably laying her head on my pillow. She's almost human sometimes, at least she things she is.

I've been doing some more administrative things for university today, getting things organized. My schedule is mostly solidified and that is good, at least I know what I'm going to do and how that's all going to work. Tuesday and Thursdays will be a hugely long and annoying day but at least on monday wed and Fri. I'll get to sleep in a bit. Its all about catching up, and I'll be very happy when I have no incompletes on my transcript and no f's due to incompletes. I think I'll have to make a point to myself that I will try hard to do my best.

Jeff, web dude, wants me to help with a page on the scheduling system so I'm planning on talking to him and working out a best plan o faction for how I'll do that. They're testing on Planetarion but because I started so late its really hard to test effectively so I don't feel motivated to help too much.

Lttely though I've been bothered by my lack of creativity. Usually I can bake my entries enjoyable to read and with interesting things that many will enjoy but as of late, I haven't vflt inspired to spin together thoughts about the world and its intricacies. I had planned to mention Arnold Schwartzenegar (spelling) yesterday, but since its been so covered and over covered in the news, I feel no need to even touch upon the subject.

As its lunch time, all I can think of is how I'm so extremely hungry. I'm planning on throwing together some kick ass macaroni and cheese which I am sure to enjoy. All the more reason to stop writing and start cooking, then start enjoying the warm day that's graced us with its presence today.

not a big deal

I wouldn't worry about the quote lack of creativity unquote. Look at my journal. Updated once, monthly. I talk about my car. I talk about random shiat that I've been reading on the web. Don't worry about it.

One of my little conflicts with a place like LiveJournal is that I don't want to post any identifying or revealing information here. No offense intended, but it isn't as if I know any of you people. But then, what's left? Not much. Your thoughts?

I take the feeling that I can post anything that's non incriminating. Just as you said what can people say about you. THe thing is, if I have anything totally private that I don't want people to know I can post them private or friends only, so I have total control on what people read. I use lj not only as a way for people to know whats going on with me (a distribution tool for like family etc.) but also so I can keep track. It makes it much more worth it when I know people are reading.

For uses like that, LiveJournal's two-level "friends" and "not friends" system is too simplistic. It should have more useful designations like "private," "family," "friends," "acquaintances," and "former apostles who will deny ever knowing you, even if the roosters call them to task." Or something like that.

Just to let you know, I've read all of your entries since Julie pointed me your way, but sometimes I don't have time to respond, or don't have anything to interject. I assume it's the same with my infrequently-updated and boring journal. It would be neat to see a counter at the bottom for "Average Daily Views" or something. Anything to bog LiveJournal down.

YOu can do this here you go, you can do exactly what you say in your journal.

YOu can by default post either private, friends, or public entries, this means that either no one can see your journal, just your friends, or public only.

You can also create friends groups which could be just like what you're talking about, family, friends, apostles whateve. If you click the elipsis right after the "your friends" link on the main lj page, you can createand edit things i.e. your groups from there. You can put whoever you want in any of your groups, then when you selectt while posting, custom group, you can then select the group which you want to post. About the view counter, you could code thisin from another site pretty easily, it just isn't too integrated in lj now. But the friend groups thing is quite cool. You can even filter your friends list view by friend group so if you want to see only family posting, you can do that or vice versa. Make sense?
Let me know if it doesn't and I"ll explain another way.
