YOU DO THE FOLLOWING.
<LJ-CUT TEXT="BLAH TEXT">
THEN YOU TYPE THE TEXT, BLAH BLAH BLAH.
Then you do </lj-cut>
That's how you do it. Does that make sense. NOw I had to do special codes so the thing would dsplay correctly so don't try to tell people in a comment this without knowing proper html coding, but if you type it, just the way I've said, then it should work. Note: case doesn't matter. Oh yeah, people use it mostly to cut down articles etc. that they post, cut up long entries etc. They're supposed to be nestable but I haven't gotten that to work yet.

Assuming the text to be cut goes between the quotes?

Yes, put the text in the quotes as the lj cut text, like whatever you want to go in the link that people click.

Actually that business with the quotes didn't work. The bleeding code kept coming up on the page and not as a link. As you will see though from looking at my journal I did manage to get it working without fiddling about with the quotes.

you just need to lj-cut text="blah" with the less than and greater than signs at the beginningand end of the thing. There's also help in the lj support faq somewhere that gives you more details
