Liz arrived here late last night (10:30 pm or so), only about ten minutes late this time as compared to being two hours late last time. I'm enjoying having her here and we're managing with the extra dog. Both of these things are quite awesome. I"m not sure what we'll do for the next week, but I'm sure we'll find something to do.
We ended up having turkey and dressing and the fixings last night. They were all very tasty and even though I've now had two Christmas dinners in a three day period, I think I can handle it. The presents we had, we opened up yesterday. Among other things which can't come to mind at the moment, I got:
- A new external sound card/box for my computer
- a couple of neat cds from my Amazo wishlist
- a fiber bed matress cover which will make my mattress at school sleep-on-able if that's a word
- an unknown amount of Bestbuy gift cards which I haven't figured out how I'll spend yet
- and some socks and slippers from my Grandmas
Us kids gave my Mom this huge painting which is now hanging on the wall in the newly painted kitchen. We're glad she liked it. I hope (a) the rest of my presents get here and (b) the fam likes what I got them. I'm sure that won't be a problem.
I still can't figure out how many people take things back to the store, but I can tell you one thing, I won't be one of the many gift returners this holiday season.
Tonight, we're having "the world's largest bon fire" for pre New Years. Its probably better we do it now as it's supposed to rain on New Years, Eve/day, making for good football weather. I'm not sure how many people will actually be there but Neil, and of course Liz, will be there, and a whole bunch of other people who are friends of the family. It should be a really neat experience, one that I hope we don't see in the form of a forest fire on the news. I'm sure that it shouldn't be a problem as its rained and snowed a good bit, so that should keep things under control. I'll explain in excruciating detail what happens if it's exciting tomorrow. I'm sure it will, in a good way.
I got a call from the guy who wants some help consulting on a project. He seems to have a clue, and talked to me like I had a clue, so that's reassuring. Guess all of my training will pay off. It's kind of cool because this may give me some much needed experience in design so I can do my internship more effectively and also write my thesis better. For the fun of it, I looked up Federal Jobs for chemical engineers, and though I'm not looking for a job at the moment, I sure liked the excitement factor of one I'd have to kill you if you knew what it was. No, actually it was an intelligence analyst for foreign chemical and biological weapons. I think I'd be good at it but if I were to get this job, this here journal would get mighty boring.
Went to work today, did work. Can't tell you about explosion in ... but hey. Was Fun. Went home. Boy I wish I could say more, but there's a big burly guy threatening me at gun point now. Suppose I should go.
We'll see what happens, but I'm sure any job I get will be cool, because I refuse to work at a non cool job.
Well, suppose I should end this epoch and let Liz write while she's still alive since its taken me so long to write. I'll write more later.
