Noel, tell your mom there is a limited-edition pin available at the Clinton Museum store -- designed and crafted by Ann Hand [a well-known designer of high-end faux jewelry], here in DC. I saw one at her Georgetown store; pointed it out to my wife; and ended up ordering it online. It's really quite pretty. Here's a link.

It's described as "Exquisite and regal American Eagle pin made exclusively for the Clinton Museum Store. 1 1/2" tall, 14 kt. gold surrounded by Swarovski crystals. Engraved signature of Bill Clinton on the reverse."

Have her take the money she would have otherwise spent on tuning your piano and treat herself to this cool pin! ;-)

I talked to my mom last night. She had a look at the jewelry even before I talked to her (she reads my journal). She said that "it wasn't her thing", but she said to say thanks. She might comment in here in a bit :).

Ann Hand will be terribly disappointed in your mom's decision! here's a link to her site. http://www.annhand.com/ Ann herself is a very well preserved/reconstructed 70-ish person who knows a LOT of high-rank folks, including presidents and first ladies. Her Georgetown store is interesting. You have to push a button so one of the 'help' can let you in. There are fur coats lying about and some quite expensive goodies for ladies. We stay over in the 'low-rent' side of the store. On both times I've been in the store, I've met Ann personally -- once by accident and the other time when she mistook me for one of her 'regulars' ;-D

Paul,
Noel's mom here...The pin was really lovely, but I am not a jewelry person...I'd rather spend my $ on a new photo ipod :)

personally, I agree with you! I'm a Mac guy anyway. My big mistake was showing the prototype pin to JoAnn, who liked it. It ended up being my combo Christmas/anniversay present; so I didn't go wrong [and built up some points for purchasing my G5 iMac in the spring!].
