Fiona and me in the snow

(no subject)

I came into work expecting to have a newsletter with my "position wanted" ad in it taking up space i my mailbox. They do some weird layout stuff with their newsletters, so I wasn't planning on readin every word, but I got an email from a company requesting a resume on Friday afternoon. I'm not complaining. I just wonder what it will be like once the actual ad is out. Will this be the only enquiry? Time will have to be the oracle on this one I fear.

Because of the Veteran's Day holiday, the transit service was closed, so I decided not to go in early to work with Catherine, and ended up staying at home. I didn't do a whole heck of a lot, but did get some emailing done, and got my fearful post for LJ Idol completed.

I'm really enjoying the contest. I've always written better on a deadline, and when I told myself that I wanted to submit earlier than three days after the week's beginning, tthat artificial pressure produced results. I just hope I can hang with the literary giants in the community for at least a week or two more, because I'm having a freaking blast here. Hey, I might just write the topics regardless, because I'm starting to redisover my love for writing. My Mom told me last night afterr reading my entry that I'd aways hat the talent. Which begs a question. Is writing a talent that one can train and hone, much like music? If that's the case, all of the honing and sharpening I've done in the writing arena lately has been via this journal. I guarantee that I've not written any masterpieces within these pages. I suppose I could take classes--practice that way--but I'm hoping this directed topic writing I'm having to do will be good enough to help me improve. I don't have time to take more creative writing classes. I'd probably like it a lot though, judging my reaction to this contest.

That's all for now. Dang, I need to come u with a better way to end an entry. I'm not planning to (a) take over the world (b) build working chemical plants or (c) blow up anything, so I guess today could be classified as "going to be mundane". We shall see.

Edit: Meant to mention, it was nice to wake up to rain on the window this morning. Hopefully it's a good omen.
