What a hefty batch of chemicals. It's odd, sometimes narcotics do different things to me than they might for most people. Rather than making me really sleepy, sometimes, especially at night, I get all keyed up and can't sleep. With all of my injuries and exposure to pain medicines, it's screwed with my tolerance to narcotics in a big way.

It's scary actually. My dad has been on percocet or vicodin for more than a decade, and when he had to have a triple bypass, they had to figure out what kinds of meds would actually work for him for the pain.

I'm enjoying this conversation via comments.

I know how that is. I also am sure that he's been told a time or two that he's addicted to pain meds, and that he should just stop taking them. I'm a big fan of pain management, not just being in excruciating pain. If that means you must take pain medication for long periods, then so be it. Maybe I should write an entry on that some time, I could write volumes on the topic. And then there's people who doctor shop and abuse the system (Rush Limbaugh???).

Me too.

Hey, we must have an Open Topic coming one of these days, right? (please? please?) It would make a great topic. Though I'm sure you could make it work for some kind of topic.

Yeah, we need to have an open topic some day soon, for real. I added you as a friend btw, hope that's ok.

I could write about that yes, but might take some research. I need to make it through this week's chopping session first. I've been not completely on the fringe the ast few weeks, but I've gotten fewer votes than makes me feel comfortable. I don't hang out in the green room all the time, so sometimes people can't get to know me that way. I write for this contest like it was a writing contest. I don't play it like it's a poplarity contest, though it has helped me be more confident in my writing.

I added you back.

I mostly treat this like a writing contest, though in the last couple of weeks I spent a little bit of time in the Green Room. Funny how I started doing that when I have absolutely no time to do so!

You and I both have 8 votes as of about a minute ago. The first few weeks I did just well enough to stay in, and ended up in Tribe 1 when we had 4 tribes. I really thought I was going to be out of it. Then I had a really good entry (the Best Friend week) and suddenly had a ton of readership.

Considering how many posts this week consisted of "mine mine mine mine and if you don't like it leave," you should be picking up a lot more readership with your post this week. (I would hope so!)

Yeah, lately I haven't spent much time in the green room, mostly because it's annoying just to keep refreshing the page over and over again. 8 votes is pretty good for being so close to the beginning. I haven't done any voting yet, so haven't even looked at the voting page. I've been writing comments to people when I really should be laying down resting my elbow.

I spent time in the green room when the contest first started, but I tended not to continue threads and do the conversation by comments thing. As I start feeling better, I'll probably do more in the green room. I'd really like to do well in this thing, even though it really doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of things. What I like about it is having a topic that you must write about and having deadlines. I never like complaining about the topic because I figure that I can twist my writing into something pertaining to the topic. The whiners really annoy me :). People who don't fight to the top also are a bit annoying as well, even if they are good writers. I just think it's much more important to know that someone has improved and fought their way up the ladder rather than either being a really strong writer or throwing their friends list weight around.

I agree on, well, all of it. The complaining about topics in a writing contest is especially annoying, since we have byes to use.

I started LJ Idol because I needed a bit more structure to my writing, and yes, the deadlines help. Nothing makes me more productive than the last minute.

You should go rest and stop writing to me and I should make some dinner for my son before he starts screaching.

Feel better, and get some rest, and good luck with the vote!
