That does suck about your master's degree not getting you a bump up on the pay scale. But not really all that surprising to me. Not very many people get paid what they are actually worth. Of course too many people get paid more than they are worth and this could be part of the problem... but I digress. Look on the bright side, you've got a job and I doubt you'll be living in poverty. And as you said you have regular opportunities to earn increases in your pay with promotions. That is also something that a lot of people do not have, the opportunity to move up. Take me for example. I work in a notoriously low-paying field, my opportunities to move up in my workplace are nonexistant so long as Mickey and I remain married unless one of us moves to a different department, and I don't make as much money as many people who have fewer abilities than I. But, on the flip side, there are people who have so much less, I don't have a bad life, and I can pay my bills. I will never earn what I'm worth in money, but I don't measure my worth in American dollars.
