I did the show on KXUA. controlg was nice enough to let me borrow his laptop, so we installed OTS DJ which is a dj program that I use to do all my broadcasts. We couldn't install the full version due to licensing restrictions, so we thought it wouldn't be a huge deal to install the demo. KXUA is a 1000 watt station, but when you screw up, its hell because you're thinking people might be sitting around listening in their living rooms or in their cars. The issue was with the demo of OTS DJ. Apparently, and I didn't know this until yesterday, puts 10 minute ads about how you should register the product along with your music. This is very bad, very bad indeed, so all through my show, we had to listen to those ads layered over nice Celtic music. Arg arg arg. I really really hope I get my new laptop this week as my show will go much better once I can move my license to my laptop, in other words remove the ads. We had one call though; it was great.
Yeah, I just wanted to tell you that you guys really suck ass.
The first hour of the show we really did suck ass, but I couldn't do anything about it. By the second hour, I'd canned OTS, and things went much better.
Good things did happen yesterday. There's a group of people getting performance credit for taking a Celtic music classhere on campus. And I got invited to sit in / play in the group. I'll be doing chord progressions, accompanying, and whatever they want me to do. It'll be loads of fun and I think, I hope, I can help them out and have a good time at the same time.
I don't know exactly what I'll be doing this afternoon/evening, but it might involve going downstairs to watch the Superbowl at a party they'll have downstairs. It might be fun, maybe. At least there will be free food and free food is always good, always!
After that, they'll have bitch fest about the pending forced movement of everyone from this dorm to another one about a half a mile away. I'm sure I'll write more about it after the meeting but basically, this dorm, now an upperclassman dorm, is supposed to become a "first year experience" dorm for freshman. So basically, to give a good first impression/make poor little freshman want to keep living in dorms, they're giving them these good rooms in the midst of campus, and making us all move to the very corner of campus. To save space, and breath, I'll save more about that for later. Have a great sunday everyone.
